Alex originally wanted a birthday party at Adventure Zone, so he could go play Laser Tag with his friends. But, Mom and Dad kept pointing out that most of his friends didn't meet the height requirement, and we suggested that he do Adventure Zone next year instead. So, this year we opted for a LEGO themed birthday party. Because EVERYONE loves Legos!
His sixth birthday fell on a Saturday, so as soon as we woke up we could give him big hugs and wish him happy birthday! We spent the morning setting up the house complete with ...
... Lego cupcakes and Ninjago cake ...
... and balloons and his big "Happy Birthday Alex" birthday banner.
As guests arrived, they all received their personalized swords (V and A had been working on them for days!) to pin on the ninja.

We tried tossing hoops onto a Lego board. One of the boys told me this game was "lame" (wow, they're already at that age already!) but I laughed when they all wanted several turns.
Then, one of the most successful games: balloons (with Legos on them) that had to be kept up in the air using only an inflatable sword. Haha, the giggles!!
Mom's favorite game. Each kid got a bag with the same amount and type of Lego pieces.
I had a stack of pre-made cards to draw from, and would give kids each 2 minutes to draw whatever item the card said ... they had to draw a tower, a car, and even in one instance something using only one hand!
We sang Happy Birthday to our special boy.
And he opened up way-too-many presents.
Most important was the smiles from friends. Leo, shown here in the middle, gave Alex a gift that was wrapped up so. many. times -- we lost track trying to count!
There was a short break after Alex's friends went home, and then Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Roger came over for pizza.
From Mom and Dad, Alex received a whole set of Star Wars ships, and a big Death Star case to keep them in!
And, of course, more Legos.
And, there was more cake!
Of course, I'm finally getting around to finishing this blog post weeks later, and I can easily say that our dining room table is still covered with all the Lego sets, there are still birthday toys (and balloons) everywhere, and we regularly see the kids playing together like the way they did his birthday night:
