I believe it's important to remember where you've been. Memories create who we are; everything that has happened shapes us into who we are today. I was fortunate to have parents who not only gave us a great childhood, but also documented that childhood so that Adam and I can look back at old photos and reminisce, sharing wonderful stories. My parents took most of our family photos with a wonderful old Polaroid camera. I remember the brown collapsible camera so well - it was such a thrill to put in the film and then to watch the photos develop before your very eyes! Unfortunately, the same chemicals that allowed them to develop instantly are now, 25 years later, destroying the photos. Who would've known?
To try to preserve some of those childhood memories, I have been scanning in the old Polaroid photos. I just finished 1977 - 1980, and wanted to share some of my favorites. Keep in mind that these haven't been lightened or touched up yet. If some of them seem dark, it's because of those chemicals that have slowly destroyed the photos.
