So, maybe you’ve already heard all about our move. But I’ll share the stories anyway. We closed on our house on a Friday, and Matt and I took Hannah out for her first look at the new house:

Hannah fell in love instantly.
Inside the house, Hannah gravitated right to the windows, where she could keep watching for critters. Every time someone came to see the house Hannah demonstrated how the windows are the perfect height. I don’t have a picture of her demonstrating this right now, but I’ll post one soon!
Later that day my parents came out for their first look at the place and they instantly fell in love too. The woods, the open space, the view of the river!
My dad was most excited about the outhouse. It’s made of cedar … and it’s a two-seater. When his brother showed up, the first thing he told Roger was not about the house or the view. Roger had barely opened his truck door when my dad exclaimed, “Rog, they got a two-holer!”
We took the trail down to the river before even going into the house.I am very excited about the clothesline. It’s the first one I’ve had since I moved out of my parents’ house, and I’ve missed it every time I’ve done laundry on a beautiful day.
My mom gave me a very cute housewarming present:
It’s sad that I’m so excited about clothespins, I know :).
My parents brought pizza for dinner (thanks dad!). When my parents left, Matt and I sat in lawn chairs and watched the sun set from our living room. It was so peaceful and beautiful … and we really wanted to open a celebratory bottle of champagne or wine, but we were both too exhausted! So we watched woodpeckers, geese, mallards, and flickers, and saw robins fly back and forth making a nest.
Waking up in the morning felt just as peaceful. I rolled over in bed and told Matt, “this feels just like camping!” It was so quiet, with all the birds singing …
Still, we had to get up and prepare for the big day.
Our movers – my parents, Adam, uncles Ron and Roger, aunt Teresa, my grandma, and coworkers Cindy, Mike, and Keith – gathered at the storage unit.
It took us three loads with the truck, Roger’s trailer, and packed cars to get everything!
Towards the end of the day we were all so tired we started using the four-wheeler to haul boxes down to the basement.
At the end of a long, hard day, we celebrated with burgers on the grill, and lots of “gin and Tondryks!”
